I was hoping that John would only have to work a half day so we could go to Good Friday services at noon today…
Apparently Good Friday services aren’t scheduled until 6 PM at the earliest so soldiers don’t have to get off from work early. Lame. I have always gone to Good Friday services at noon. I guess if he gets finished with work in time this evening, which is unlikely since he is closing, then we could go at 6 or 7 PM and pretend that we’re in CST. There it would bee 11 AM or noon, respectively.
Like I said, it is unlikely that John will get off work in time anyway. He had to go in at 9 AM this morning (normally it’s 10 AM when he closes), has to work through lunch, and probably won’t get home until 7:30 tonight. It’s a long day here with Béni!
I am hoping to get through a lot of my revolutions paper today. I’m starting to get pretty stressed that I haven’t begun either paper yet…
So far today, I have done the whole getting ready thing, taken John to work, gone to the post office (it wasn’t open yet, ugh! what post office isn’t open at 9 AM?! oh yeah…this is the military), gone to the grocery store, checked email, caught up on blogs, played with Béni, “baked” a yummy surprise for John later and written this blog. Basically, I have done everything to avoid writing my paper. As soon as I finish this post, I WILL work on my paper!!

Today is also Nostalgic Friday, which I look forward to every week so I can share some random photo, video or story. Since Easter is this weekend, I figured I would dig into our photo archives for old Easter photos.
I love how you can see an egg hidden in both photos.
I kind of wish I got to hunt for Easter eggs still. Is that weird?
I will really miss my mom’s Scottish eggs on Easter. It’s part of our Easter brunch which also includes blueberry muffins and fruit salad. Scottish eggs are hard boiled eggs wrapped in sausage. Yum!! This year, we are heading to the Village Pavilion (aka event center on post) for an Easter brunch. They are serving German/American style breakfast and some carving stations. It won’t be Mom’s tasty Easter brunch, but it’ll have to do!

Germany is actually the first place I’ve lived where Good Friday is a holiday! Is it a holiday in Texas?
Well ya know…I’m not sure. I don’t think so, but my parents always had it off. My mom works for a school district, and schools have the day off. My dad is a military civilian employee, and they would let their employees go just before noon so they could go to church and then no one would have to come back to work the rest of the day.
I never had a typical desk job when I lived there, so I don’t know what the average company does in Texas on Good Friday.
Happy Easter John & Sarah.. Miss y’all!
Thanks, Laura! Happy Easter to you too!!
