New Apartment Decor

Sunday was a busy busy day, and we didn’t plan on it being that way. We got up a little late and sat around watching tv. Around 1:30, we went to the coffee house (Kaffeehaus) in Schwetzingen for our traditional Sunday brunch. We got back around 3:30, and I had some dishes to do. John mentioned he’d like to get the wine glasses moved into the hutch, but I wanted to polish the glasses first (they had some dust build up) so I decided to get to that after the dishes.

Meanwhile, John went to fix my bathroom sink, which has been backing up lately. We had a minor mishap with that but kept going. After doing the dishes and polishing the glasses, we got into dusting everything on the bookcase in the dining room and rearranging it in/on the hutch. After that, we decided to find a new home for the bookshelf, so we moved it to the living room. We had to do some reorganization with all our transformers and power strips, which took awhile. I also started arranging books and picture frames on the bookshelf we just moved. When we moved the bookshelf, we had to move our floor lamp away from that part of the room, so we had to solve the problem of lighting in the room.

We switched out lamps between the living and dining room (and brought a new table into the living room). We noted that the lamp that had come from the dining room needed some fixing involving super glue, so John took care of that. Meanwhile, I made chocolate chip cookies from scratch. When we were done with all of that (around 6:30), we ordered a pizza from Pizza Hut, and headed down to the basement to start our laundry. On our way down, we noticed it was snowing HARD. We started our 4 loads of laundry, and headed to Pizza Hut, which was nerve wracking for me to be out on the roads in the snow. I would never have done that in Texas. :o)

We got back, played in the snow, ate our pizza, and finished and folded our laundry. It was a VERY productive day and kind of reminds me of the story If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.

Oh, and please disregard the scaffolding and green netting seen outside our widows. They’re in the process of repainting our building. I’m really excited about this, because our building is currently a two-tone brown color that looks like it’s out of the 70s (gross).

The captions get in the way of seeing some of these photos, so as always, just click a photo in the slide show to open it in a new window where you can see everything much better.
