Geography and Our Car

Last week I asked you to define what geography is without looking at a dictionary, and y’all did really well. The people I talked to before I took my class tended to think I was taking a class where I would learn where countries and their capital are. Geography is the study of the earth: land features, agriculture, natural resources, population, etc. An official definition is “the science dealing with the areal differentiation of the earth’s surface, as shown in the character, arrangement, and interrelations over the world of such elements as climate, elevation, soil, vegetation, population, land use, industries, or states, and of the unit areas formed by the complex of these individual elements.”

So there you go.

In other news, we went to re-register John’s ’89 BMW this week, and unfortunately, it did not pass. The repairs were worth more than the value of the vehicle, so it wasn’t worth repairing/keeping. If you want to get rid of a car (for parts/whatever), you have to pay someone to come tow it away, and it can get fairly pricey. We were lucky enough to find someone for less of an expense than usual, but now we’re back down to one car (the Xterra). If I’m lucky enough to get a job one of these days, maybe we’ll be able to go back to 2 cars. Speaking of jobs, I applied to an event management position on the economy (which means with a German business/not on post), so please keep your fingers crossed for that.
