One week from today, we’ll be headed home for a short visit. Initially, this visit home was made to coincide with a friend’s wedding, but now we have a lot more on our plate. Since we haven’t been home since April/May, this is the first time we have been home and had baby on the brain. We will have lots of shopping for Monkey to take care of, including a crib, bedding and lots of registering.
My soon-to-be-wed friend also needs some last minute help with favors and decorations before the wedding, and we’re also going to the rehearsal dinner, which means we’ll probably be seeing her Wednesday-Saturday.
Wednesday morning, we have a 3-D ultrasound scheduled at a little boutique place in Austin. They don’t have doctors there – just ultrasound techs. During that appointment, we’ll confirm whether we’re having a boy or a girl. After we drive back to San Antonio, we’ll spend the afternoon shopping for Monkey boy or Monkey girl.
Thursday I have a hair appointment, and Friday I have a dentist appointment. I also want to get my eyebrows waxed at some point, but I go somewhere other than my hair salon for that so I can’t knock those out together. Thursday night is also a family dinner for John’s stepbrother’s birthday.
Saturday morning, my mom, mother-in-law and step mother-in-law are throwing me a shower in San Antonio, and Sunday afternoon, 3 wonderful friends of ours are throwing us a shower in Austin.
Sunday we also hope to get to our church in Austin and do some scouting out of potential areas in which we could find a rental house next spring.
Monday we will be making a trip to the post office to send back whatever baby things we will need right away, and the rest of the things will stay at my parents’ house until we move back. Since it will only be about 5-6 weeks from my due date until we move, we really only need the bare minimum in Germany.
Initially, we were supposed to fly back to Germany on Tuesday morning, but when we saw how busy our schedule was already – and that didn’t account for seeing much family! – we extended our trip by two days. Now we will leave very early on Thursday morning, will spend about 6 hours in Dallas, where we’ll hopefully spend some time with my sister before flying back to Germany.
So that’s the skinny on our upcoming trip. I’m really excited!
*Note: We normally wouldn’t post about going out of town, but because we live where we do, we’re able to write a little more freely. In the future, however, we won’t be able to be so lucky!
This sounds like a tight schedule… I hope there won’t be any vulcano this time 😉
Enjoy the time with your family and friends!
