Pop!

Two weeks week ago today, I noticed my tummy was starting to grow. It seemed like it happened overnight. The following weekend, I tried switching from my Bella Band to maternity pants. Eeeh, I was somewhere between a Bella Band and maternity pants, but one thing is for sure — I was way beyond the rubber band trick.

Today, as I got dressed, I noticed that my pants are now about 5-5.5″ too small in the waist. I don’t have work-appropriate maternity pants to wear until Thursday, because all the pants I ordered were too long and had to be hemmed. That means just one more work day of discomfort before making the transition to the land of stretchy waist bands. This is exciting, people.

It really is weird to not have to constantly suck in my stomach, and it has actually been a hard habit to break. (I realized that yet again as I typed the beginning of that sentence that I was sucking in.) It is also counterintuitive to cheer weight gain on the scale. I had not gained anything until this week, and now I am hovering between 1 and 3 pounds gained.  I will not post any photos of my changing belly until after we have gone to visit our family and friends in Texas later this month. I really want them to be the first to see me.

On Thursday, I have my 16 week appointment, and I really hope Monkey cooperates and lets us at least take a guess at whether to plan for ballet recitals or football games in our future. Come on gender prediction!
