The Couch Chronicles

I woke up this morning feeling a wee bit sick. I got up and about 45 seconds later, I was back in bed knowing I should listen to my body and not go to work. Grumble grumble. I planned to work from home, which I have, but I still feel bad for not being at work. John thinks I carry an inordinate amount of guilt over things like this. I’m working on it.

With two hours to go in the normal workday, I can tell you that staying home was absolutely the best choice. I have spent all day on the couch responding to work emails and don’t have any desire to get up. Since I don’t want to move and work has slowed due to the rapidly approaching weekend, I thought I’d let you all benefit from my sickness. I’m finally updating our blog. Hurray! Do we still have any readers? No? Oh.

For anyone out there who is still reading, we haven’t had much going on this month (for once). It has been a welcome break from the hectic nature of earlier this summer. After our Dutch friends Jacoline and Jeroen came to visit at the beginning of the month, we have just taken it easy. While Jacoline and Jeroen were here, however, we managed to plan a number of fun outings. We watched the final matches of the World Cup, but it was sad to see Holland lose to Spain (boo Spain!). We walked around downtown, explored the Thingstätte and Michaelskloster and took a drive to the Schwarzwald (Black Forest) to see Schwarzenbach and Baden-Baden. I have some great photos that I promise I will post next week.

This weekend, we’re supposed to be going on an evening cruise down the Neckar River. I sure hope that I’m feeling a little better by then so that we can fully enjoy it. Taking a boat down the river is something that has been on my to do list since we got here, and I’m glad to be able to cross it off before we leave. I will be sure to take some photos of the cruise before the sun goes down, and I’ll share those along with the rest of this month’s photos next week.

Have a great weekend and stay healthy! Don’t catch my cold!

*Achoo!*
