Winding Down

We are definitely in the homestretch of this pregnancy. My Braxton Hicks contractions have increased and some of them are even accompanied by a little pain. In the past week, I have been woken up by the a few times. I guess everything is warming up for the big day.

My dreams have gotten more intense lately, too. Last night, I dreamt that Monkey was born and no one would let me see him or feed him. He went two days without food and without having anyone change his diaper. I was frantic. Then I woke up.

I also had a dream where water was rushing into wherever I was. I woke up panicked that maybe that meant my water broke. Nope – just more worry-related dreams.

Not knowing when Monkey is going to arrive is kind of exciting, though. I kind of like that it isn’t something we can plan down to the minute. When it happens, it happens, and we’ll be ready. No, my bag isn’t packed. Yes, I have packed a bag for the baby. The reason I haven’t packed a bag is because our place is already super empty. I figure there isn’t much I’d be able to bring anyway, so there’s no need to live out of a suitcase for what may end up being a very long month.

I think the day the doctor would induce me is April 8th if Monkey doesn’t come sooner. This just means that one way or another, Monkey will be here within the next month and our adventures in parenthood are about to begin.
