I ended up in labor and delivery yesterday, but no, Monkey isn’t here yet. The doctors were checking me to make sure that my water hadn’t broken. After an hour of monitoring on the fetal heart monitor and contraction monitor (non stress test) and seeing that I am having little contractions, the doctor examined me and told me that I am starting to dilate and I’m almost completely effaced. She even said she could feel his head! It’s reassuring to know that the pain I have been feeling since Saturday or Sunday (when my Braxton Hicks really started picking up) has actually been doing something.
I wasn’t really surprised when the doctor gave me that news. I took it in stride and was a little excited. I really want to meet Monkey!
So, as we waited for the test to see if I was leaking any amniotic fluid, John sat me up and suddenly, I spit something out…a small part of one of my teeth!! I was way more shocked about that than the news that Monkey is trying to make his debut.
My mouth is competing for attention with Monkey and my uterus. Im not thrilled.
I was pretty upset about my tooth yesterday, and I ended up getting in to see the on post dentist this morning. They told me they are pretty sure it was just part of a filling. They were able to sand it down so the roughness didn’t bother me, and with any luck, I’ll be able to get by until we get back to the States when I have an appointment with my real dentist. After all, I don’t want to be worrying about my mouth right now. It’s baby time!
Other happenings lately:
We finally got our taxes back from our accountant (one of the benefits of my job), and filed our tax return today. Hooray!
This week has been an incredibly exhausting one at work. I’m training my friend Megan as my replacement, which means I’m teaching all day. Honestly, I never thought I was any good at teaching and imparting knowledge on others. I have never had the opportunity to train someone before, though, and this experience has made me think that maybe I’ve been wrong about myself.
This week is also a big week for our car. John will be dropping it off tomorrow to be shipped to the States. Once we arrive stateside, he will have to fly to Dallas to pick up the car and drive it back to Austin.
Friday, we have our housing pre-inspection, where a representative from the housing office will come over and tell us all the things that we need to get fixed before move out.
Friday night, if Monkey hasn’t arrived, John and I have a dessert date. There’s a little German restaurant downtown that has dessert Flammkuchen, and we can’t wait to sample it!
did this happen right after we facebooked each other?! wow! i really had no idea that the little one was so close to arrival!!!!how excited (minus the tooth!)
No, it happened early your time on Tuesday 🙂

Sorry I’ve not been back here sooner, crazy busy getting our civilian lives in order… you know how it is!
