1. What book, movie or song has made you want to travel to a particular place?
Watching any of the Norwegian films I own (Buddy, Elling, Kitchen Stories, Hawaii Oslo) make me want to go to Norway even more than I already want to travel there. Additionally, the Planet Earth series makes me want to explore all over!
2. Aside from your significant other, who would you want to take with you on a dream trip?
My choice of travel companion would rely on what I decided on doing for my “Dream trip.” I would love to go Norway, as I stated above, and if that was the “dream trip” I took without John, I’d take my mom. Since I inherited my Norwegian heritage from her, I know she would appreciate being able to go there and see where our ancestors were from.
3. Where would said dream trip be to?
Oh, oops. I already answered this one above. I guess I jumped the gun on that one a bit.
4. If you were hosting guests or providing tips, what three things would you show visitors to your hometown? (be it where you live now or where you grew up)
I’ll answer this for where we live now:
5. If you had a long weekend ahead of you, where would you head – beach, city or country/mountains?
I used to say beach, and I still love the beach, but I haven’t been there in ages now. Most of our vacations nowadays involve mountains and I love it. If I had a long weekend coming up, I’d take a trip down to Switzerland for camping (only if the weather was semi-warm though!). Unfortunately, it’s back in the 40s (for hte highs) now, so if th trip were this upcoming weekend, my trip would probably be a trip down to Italy instead.
6. Do you have a passport? If so, did you get it for a particular trip or just to have, in case?
I got my passport for my first trip to Germany when John and I got engaged.
7. Are there any travel souvenirs you collect? If not, is there something else you collect?
Yes and yes. When we travel out of the country, I pick up a children’s book from each country we visit. As for regular ol’ collections, I have collections of tea cups and intricate Easter eggs.
8. If you could name a paint colour, what colour would it be and what would you call it?
I think I’d go with the color of the cardigan I’m wearing today. It’s a light pastel blue-green. Other than frozen sea foam green, I wouldn’t know what to call it!
9. If you were heading away for a weekend citybreak solo, where would you go? (forget about practicality here and flight times, assume you can get to any city in the world for the weekend)
If I could go anywhere in the world for a weekend and travel time/jet lag was of no consequence, I’d go to Hawaii. Mountains and beach. Score!
10. Is there a song or a smell or something that you strongly associate with a particular holiday/place/time, such that it always takes you back?
Yes, but gosh darn it, I cannot remember any examples right now. Oh oh oh! Here’s one — Lee Greenwood’s Proud to be an American reminds me of my 1st and 5th grade plays (we sang the song for both plays).
My only knowledge about Heidelberg is in reference to the printing presses. Sigh, it’s sad when work knowledge creeps into every day life.
Printing presses? Do share this information! (Unless, of course, you don’t want to talk work, and I’m ok with that too!)
I love the Children’s book collection thing! What a great idea 🙂
Thanks!!
