Visit Chelsea at Roots and Rings to see how everyone else answered the Ten on Tuesday questions!
1. If you were given an hour to use a $200 Amazon gift card, what would you buy?
I would buy either a cast iron frying pan or a Le Creuset French Oven. With the leftover, I would stock up on books I want to read.
2. Are there any fairly common foods that you’ve never had?
I am not a fan of the thought of eating things that swim in the ocean, so I have never been able to bring myself to eat lobster or salmon. I do usually like crab, Mahi Mahi, tuna, and tilapia, though. I have also never had duck, rabbit, deer, blah blah blah.
3. What was your favorite way to use your imagination as a kid?
I’m not really sure what this question is asking (sorry Chelsea – it’s still a good one!). I played with my Fisher Price kitchen a lot. Oh, and I never made my dolls talk out loud. They had conversations, but they were all in my head. I guess I was too shy to make them actually speak.
4. What’s your favorite state? Why?
Texas. If you don’t understand why, then I don’t think we can be friends.
I kid…sort of.
5. If it was our culture to have our parents choose our spouses, do you think yours would make a good choice?
No, but only because they wouldn’t have known John, and thus, they would not have picked out John as my husband.
6. What’s your favorite herb?
Mint or lavender, just for the smell
7. If you could have dinner with one celebrity, who would you choose?
President Obama or maybe Tyler from Tyler’s Ultimate. I figure Tyler might cook me one of his fabulous dishes. Yum!
8. What’s your favorite Disney movie?
That’s a toughie. It’s hard for me to choose between Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast, but I think I’ll go with the latter.
9. If you had to listen to the same song over and over for 24 hours, what song would you choose?
Oh my gosh, no song is good on repeat. If I had to do this, I’d choose a long classical piece – perhaps Carmina Burana or Mozart’s Requiem. I know that’s sort of cheating, but I cannot fathom any one SONG being tolerable for 24 hours straight.
10. How do you order your steak?
Typically, I order my steak medium well; however, it frequently comes out cooked medium. I don’t mind either. I just don’t like medium rare. Blech.
crying over your generosity. seriously. (but then i’ve been doing that alot lately, haha)
i’m working on some boudaries…
there have been some pretty big life changes for me/us since late 2009.
our family business merged with another company, setting us up for some really exciting opportunities of growth. while i should be jumping for joy over the fact that we remain in business, i find myself completely overwhelmed by the added work load, accountability and pressures of answering to people i don’t know (and a 23 year old recent graduate that i don’t respect)
i still work with/for my husband. nuff said there!
said husband just moved his office home (to where my office is) yay. joy. yippee. (and by that i mean %$#&!)
new-ish empty nest.
and an overwhelming feeling of inadequacy and lack of confidence to do my job well (despite the occasional happy emails from my new “teammates”)
so i’m not about to jump off a bridge or anything, it’s just overwhelming and the dark places are more prevalent than ever in my life.
kinda scary, but i have a GREAT Christian counselor/friend that i’m about to see.
your encouragement means the WORLD to me. seriously.
Aw, yeah…I can tell a lot has been going on/changing, and no matter how you slice it, change can be really difficult.
Also, it can be extremely taxing to deal with coworkers that are difficult, etc. I do my best to remind myself that I don’t have to respect the person, but at least while I’m at work, I need to strive to respect their position in the company.
I know the “performance review” didn’t go over well, and I hope that you all have worked through those hurts and come out on a happier side with greater understanding of both your needs.
Hugs!!
and by “boudaries” i mean “boundaries” silly me.
LOVE the answers you put for number one! Based on that alone, I think we could be great friends! (Despite the fact that I put something different for my first answer, ha!)
My dolls never talked out loud either. I remember trying it once, and feeling so silly!
I’m glad I’m not alone in the silent doll playing. It sure did feel awkward and silly!
And thanks for the comment. I’m heading over to check out your blog now!
I wanted a Fisher Price Kitchen so bad! Sadly it was never to be.
It’s so difficult to pick a Disney movie! I picked Peter Pan but then I keep seeing other people’s answers and saying, “OMG YES!”
Aw, sorry you never had your play kitchen. I ended up selling mine so I could get money to buy who knows what else, and I’ve regretted that decision since I was ohhhh 6 or so.
And Peter Pan is a great choice too. I love Nana!
Cast iron skillets are great. My mom gave us one and my fiance cooks everything in it. Books are great too!
I really hope I stumble on $200 to buy a cast iron skillet!
Has anybody done the set of questions James Lipton asks at the end of the interview on Inside Actors Studio? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inside_the_Actors_Studio
No, but those questions aren’t family-friendly, and the people who do these Ten on Tuesday questions want them to be family-friendly.
ah i c… there’s only the cuss word question. when they’re talking about what turns u on/off i don’t think they meant that in a sexual way.
Oh wow, I had the fisher price toy kitchen too. LOVED that thing! I think i played with it constantly, as did my brother and sister, lol.
I have looked at toy kitchens in recent years while thinking about the “perfect” one for our children someday, and sadly, they all seem so dull now. I wonder if that’s a product of growing up or toy “lameness” these days.
I recently found some plans on a website called knockoffwood.blogspot.com to build your own, it’s so sweet. I might have a go at it. Mikey likes playing with kitchen things.
YES on tenley!! she is way better for jake and deserves the best (even better than being the next bachelorette, haha). hope you have great week!
Thanks! You too!
