Today’s Nostalgic Friday is going to be a bit short. John is at work until about 2 PM, and I’m running around like crazy to get us packed (including Béni) for our weekend trip to see Jacoline in the Netherlands. I have to be ready by about 2 so we can head out. It’s about a 5 hour drive, so it would be nice if we were able to get in around 7 PM.
I have never had to pack for anyone but myself. Packing for both my husband and our puppy was challenging. I also had to take Béni to the vet this morning…we had to walk because John had the car, and all of a sudden Béni went nutso. Anyway, back to my bit of nostalgia for the day.
According to the scale at the vet, Béni weights 30.1 pounds today. That REALLY makes me miss when he was a tiny 8 pounds. That got me to thinking about videos we took when he first came home with us. Here’s one of his very first bath:

Now off to finish packing and eat my mishmash lunch (Kashi granola followed by some cream cheese and peach salsa with Wheat Thins…aka healthy followed by unhealthy).
I hope everyone has a great weekend!

ohhhh sarah, didn’t you know?? ANYTHING with kashi is healthy!! that’s why i dip their 7 grain crackers in chocolate!! (jk)
actually i love just about anything kashi. i have discovered my neighborhood krogers no longer carries my favorite kashiness (the 7 grain hot cereal) so i guess it’s off to the healthfood store. sigh.
hope you have a great time in the netherlands and that beni has a good time too (and is a well behaved little boy).
can’t wait for the pix!
oh and btw, what kind of video camera do you use?
have fun!
Well yes, Kashi is healthy, but the cream cheese with peach salsa and Wheat Thins wasn’t necessarily the healthiest choice (though it was VERY tasty!).
And thanks, Beni did SO well this weekend. I think he had a great time. He slept an hour later than normal, didn’t bark during the night, and was very well behaved. 🙂
As for the video camera, I just use the video feature on my small Canon point and shoot camera.
So cute! We have to be IN the shower with Rookie! I just read that it helps if you put a towel at the bottom of the bathtub. It is less slippy so they aren’t as nervous. Not sure if that’s true, I think Rookie is just scared of water.
I’m not allowed to pack for Stephen. How weird is that?!
Yeah, sometimes John has to get in with him now too. He is big enough now that he can try to jump out, which makes a huge mess in the bathroom. I just try to look on the bright side and if he does splash everywhere, at least once I clean it up, it’s like I mopped!
Thanks for the towel idea, too. We may try that sometime. In fact, Beni needs a bath tonight. He got pretty dirty on his play date Saturday and at the beach on Sunday.
That’s funny that you’re not allowed to pack for Stephen 🙂 At least it creates less work for you!
please take lots of pics from your trip to the netherlands…and email your mailing address (AGAIN!) i promise this time ill write it down. i mean its not that i delete it..i just keep getting new planners. but this one is good for the rest of 2009 =]
I took quite a few and will be posting them either tomorrow or Wednesday, so keep an eye out for them 🙂
Sending you my address now…
awwwww! what a cute baby puppy! 🙂 Sandy (Will’s dog) is terrified and Will has to get in with her and shut the bathroom door, otherwise there’s a wet dog running around his apt!
Hope the Netherlands was fun!
Yeah, John has to get in sometimes too…otherwise Beni will try to jump out, which makes a huge mess for me to “mop” up. I can’t wait until we have a yard and can bathe him outside in a kiddie pool or something with the garden hose!
And thanks, we had a great time this weekend 🙂 I hope your classes get off to a great start today! Good luck!
cute video of Beni! And I love your lunch choice…ha even if it’s a little unhealthy it sounds delicious. Hope y’all have fun on your trip!
Thanks! It was definitely tasty 🙂 I’m a huge fan of cream cheese and peach salsa. They don’t have peach salsa here, which is a travesty! I had to have my mom ship some to us.
