When you spend 6-7 months out of the year in a cold, gray, drizzly mess, the return of blue skies, the sun, warm weather and chirping birds is magical. I can’t get over how happy I am that spring is here.

I started my research for one of my term papers today. I’m writing about intercultural adoptions, and I’m already amazed (and saddened) by the information my interviews are returning. I’m actually really excited to write this paper, unlike my other paper which is on revolutions. I have made the topic slightly more bearable by deciding to write about something that interests me within the realm of revolutions. I’m writing about the treatment of women in Afghanistan pre- and post-revolution (the Saur revolution).
If you have any information you would like to contribute for either paper, just let me know! I’m interested by any extra information I can get.

We wanted to arrange a trip to go visit John’s maternal grandmother next month, but the Army says no. *sigh* Such is the life of a military family, I suppose. Now, we’re planning on extending our trip in August so we can visit with her as well as our parents and siblings in San Antonio, go to Katy’s wedding in Austin mid-month and head up to Minnesota to see John’s older sister’s new baby (she is due in the first part of the month). It will be an exciting trip!

Our Highs:
- Finishing my last classroom day for my master’s.
- Enjoying the amazing, warm, sunny day on the patio in front of the Kaffeehaus on Sunday.
- Getting to put away my long sleeved shirts and sweaters until fall and break out all my 3/4 length and short sleeved shirts.
- Discovering Real,- on the German economy.
- Finding syrups for our Soda Club. They’re YUMMY! We’ll blog more about that soon and we’ll include a demo video so you can see how to do it.
- Watching baseball on TV.
- Having Béni sleep on his back right next to me while I wrote this whole post.
Our Lows:
- Finding out John has to go back to Graf next month to tear down what he set up a few weeks ago.
- Being bogged down with schoolwork when the weather is so beautiful.
- Dealing with puppy vomit this morning. Poor Béni!
- Not being able to take leave to go see John’s grandmother next month.

I normally don’t do this, but in light of my cultural diversity class and other things going on in our life right now, I’d like to share what I read in the Bible this morning with you:
“You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much. If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that. But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.
