Before we fell asleep last night, John and I were being silly and told some semblance of a bedtime story. I’ll do my best to tell the story again for all of you. If you’re not familiar with Austin, TX, zooming in along the I35 corridor in this map may help you understand our story. And yes, I realize that by telling this story, I might be proving we’re incredibly crazy. And now, our story:
We have decided that if we ever have a son, we will name him Woodward Oltorf Woodlawn. He would live on Riverside next to his neighbors, Holly and Ceasar Chavez. Holly & Ceasar have 51 children and grandchildren living in their neighborhood. One of them is named Martin Luther King Junior Jr, and another has and extra set of arms, and they call him 38th 1/2. I almost forgot! The 26th child grew up to be the dean of the University of Texas, Dean Keeton. One day, they all decided to pile in vans and drive to the Airport. When they got out of the car, the airport staff was amazed and said, “It looks like there are 2222 of y’all.” 38th 1/2 said, “No, there are just 51 plus our driver, Mr. Koenig. One day we hope to have 290 of us, although we would settle for 183.”
By this time, I was cracking up and getting too wound up to go to sleep, so we ended the story there. I must mention, however, that John would rather name our future son Rundberg Rutherford. Though I promise this won’t come true, we may have a pet with that name at some point!

Okay, you might be crazy, but you’re not alone. Hubby and I tend to get silly at bedtime a lot, but our all-time favorite was when we had an hour-long discussion about naming our children after food. Like Chimichanga Fettucine….or Liverwurst Sauerkraut…the list goes on. I think you had to be there.
You do realize if you abbreviate your son’s name it’d be WOW?
hilarious!!!
