Election Day

It’s 6:04 AM and I’ve been out of bed since 5:25 when John’s alarm went off. I’ve been up since 4:30 when my fan woke me up. It’s going to be a long day, because we’re staying up to see the election results. We should head to bed around 5:30 tomorrow morning. It looks like we’re in for staying up for 24 hours (though I’m sure we’ll both take a nap this afternoon followed by a big cup of coffee this evening).

Originally, we were going to go to a party at the Westin in Frankfurt hosted by the US Consulate. It was an all-night election party beginning at 10 or 10:30 PM. We changed our mind yesterday morning and cancelled our hotel reservations. We decided it was better to save the money. I’m sure it would have been a neat experience, but Frankfurt is an hour or so drive each way (think Austin-San Antonio), and the added cost of food, hotel, and driving while tired didn’t sound so appealing to us anymore.

Instead, we’re having our own 2-person election “party” here tonight. We’ll probably just snack and watch TV until the election is decided.

What else has been going on lately? Um, well, Halloween just passed. I made pumpkin bread for it last week. John took one of the loaves to work at the men in his office really liked it. One of them told me thatnot only was it delicious, but it was a perfectly shaped loaf. I got a kick out of that. He also called it orange Halloween bread. I think I’m going to call pumpkin bread orange Halloween berad from now on. It’s such an awesome name.

We didn’t go out for Halloween. It was rainy and gross, so we stayed in and watched a not scary movie. I think we watched Smart People. It was only so-so. The movie kind of dragged on and it was only 94 minutes long. While I’m on the subject of movies, I want to suggest you watch Love and Other Disasters. We rented it a few weeks ago, and I thought it was awesome. It pokes fun at rom coms (romantic comedies) while being witty and ironic.

All right. Time to go do something with my day. I wish that something was sleep (at least for 1-2 more hours)!
